Laying out the graph

Auto Layout

The Scene Graph has an Auto Layout feature, that lays out the graph for you. You can turn this on and off by choosing Layout > Auto Layout; a checkbox on the menu shows whether or not you're using auto layout. You can also make Director lay out the graph by choosing Layout > Layout Now - whether or not you have turned on auto layout.

Manual layout

You can also lay out the graph by hand. First, ensure you have switched off the Auto Layout, otherwise Director might later alter your own layout. Then select the cells you wish to move (see Selecting nodes), and drag them to their new position.

This option is particularly useful when you are printing the scene graph; you can change the layout to ensure that no nodes straddle page boundaries. See Printing the Scene Graph window.
